LOCATION: Mayo Castlebar Le Cheile Community and Family Resource
Centre

REPORTING TO: Manager Le Cheile Community and Family Resource Centre

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We work with Families and children across the community of Castlebar,
working with community Groups and social inclusion projects across the
community. Part of our work is to build on integration of Early years
supports, social inclusion in the community. Over the last few years,
our work has become more focused on working with the new communities
living in Ireland who are looking to be integrated into their local
community and integrate into society generally. This includes
displaced people such as Ukrainians, International Protection
Applicants and other refugees. The Community Engagement Officer will
support the FRC team in defining and delivering the ongoing needs of
the new communities by:

* Building relationships with the Managers who run the various
accommodation centres across Castlebar where the new communities are
housed to understand their issues
* Meeting with the people living in the centres to research and
understand their skills and abilities to help them find volunteering
opportunities
* Participating in Community Response Forum, network meetings and
other relevant meetings where information is shared about the new
communities
* Assisting the Manager and in the FRC with planning and organising
events and projects as identified by the team
* Sourcing funding for Projects and rolling out in the community
* Providing reports and analysis from discussions and meetings to
the Le Cheile CFRC Manager to feed into plans and objectives

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

ESSENTIAL:

* Experience in a community role working with a broad range of
people from different backgrounds and an understanding of cultural
differences
* Awareness of Community Development and its importance in society
and/or practical volunteering experience · Excellent IT and
administration skills and a good knowledge of using Microsoft **Apply

* Ability to communicate well with a diverse range of people
* Full clean driving licence and access to own car for work

DESIRABLE:

* Minimum of Level 6 in appropriate course such as Community
Development, Social Care, family support or Early Childhood Education
* Fluency or high level of conversation in any languages other than
English
* Excellent time management and workload planning skills
* Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team
* Capacity to work on own initiative and seek support as required
* Problem solving and adaptability skills

* Experience of planning and organising events

* Travel to accommodation centres and other meeting places as
required across Mayo; travel and subsistence expenses will be paid at
public sector rates

TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Reporting to the Manager of the Le Cheile FRC

LOCATION: Based in our Castlebar Office

* Paid monthly; weekly timesheet to be completed
* Supervision meeting every 4 weeks to assess performance, give
feedback and provide any necessary support
* A comprehensive induction programme and all necessary training
will be provided
* Fixed term contract Tenure 6-month fixed term contract until July
* subject to funding
* Probation period of 2 months

SELECTION PROCESS:

Short listing will be carried out on the basis of information supplied
in your curriculum vitae and letter of application at the closing
date. A panel of successful candidates will be formed as a result of
the interview process. The candidate who obtains first place on the
panel will be the first candidate considered for the position, subject
to satisfactory Garda clearances, two reference check and so on in
order of merit. The panel is live for 6 months.
